Investors wiped more than $200 billion of the market value of Facebook owner Meta after the company warned of weaker advertising growth and reported its first-ever decline in daily users.

Facebook's parent company Meta reported daily active user numbers of 1.929 billion over the last three months of 2021. In Q3 of 2021, it reported an average of 1.93 billion active users. This means it lost roughly 1 million users over that period.

If Facebook becomes permanently uncool, then it could eventually head towards the decline of MySpace and Friendster. Facebook is much larger than those companies ever were and has stayed dominant for longer and has actual profits. Teenage users of Facebook in the US has declined by 13 percent since 2019 and have been projected to drop 45 percent over the next two years.
